We’ve been quiet in World Blanket land but things have been happening behind the scenes.

First, frontman Michael Pomranz has relocated to Sheffield, England. He’ll be performing his first official gig in the city on Saturday, October 8th on the outdoor stage at Peddler Market — an awesome showcase “of Britains best street food traders, alongside top-notch craft beers, freshly made cocktails, live music and art” held inside of a 7500sq.ft ex-industrial warehouse.” Pomranz’s set will be from 2:30pm – 3pm.

Also, we know it’s been over four years since we last released new original music, but over the summer, World Blanket’s classic lineup of Michael Pomranz, Grant Whittaker and Josh Solomon went into a New York studio with our favorite producer, Darren Morze, to begin initial recording on new material.

Here’s a little tease…

We’re headlining Ding Dong Lounge on Manhattan’s Upper West Side THIS SATURDAY (December 7th) for a matinee show: Doors are at 2pm, everything is wrapped by 7pm, and then you can head out into the night (or stick around at the awesome Ding Dong Lounge).

$5 gets you three great bands.  Music starts at 4:30.  World Blanket goes on right at 6pm.

For those of you who have been keeping up with Mike Pomranz’s solo shows, you know this is one of his favorite spots to play in New York City.  Great bar.  Great people.  Will be a great, chill show (that will also rock!)

Put on by the always amazing OMUB.  More details at the Facebook event page.

Come see World Blanket headline Mercury Lounge in New York City’s Lower East Side on Tuesday, July 23rd!

Tickets are available now!  Buy them HERE.

We’ll once again be performing with our good friends Wild Leaves!

Doors are at 6:30.  Wild Leaves go on at 6:30 and World Blanket at 7:30.  Tickets are $10.

Come see World Blanket headline Union Hall in Brooklyn on Thursday, April 11th!

Tickets are available now!  Buy them HERE.

This show is very special to us because Union Hall is in Park Slope, a neighborhood a couple of us call home, and Union Hall is one of our favorite local bars.  It’s also a very intimate room with some of the best sound in New York City.

The show features two amazing special guests: Wild Leaves and The Inner Banks!

Doors are at 7:30.  Wild Leaves go on at 8pm, The Inner Banks at 9pm and World Blanket at 10pm.  There is an $8 cover at the door if you do not have tickets.

First, let me say, work is still be completed on World Blanket’s 3rd album, Create/Roadshow.  It will be finished soon.  But there is still work to be done.

Meanwhile, unfortunately, we’ve gone from dozens of shows a month to nearly none at all.  So to fill that void, I announce “Baby Blanket.”

Late last year, I purchased a Little Martin Acoustic Electric to become my fulltime travel guitar.  The 3/4 size instrument is a little beast with surprisingly sturdy sound and I immediately found myself wanting to test it out live.

On Thursday, Febraury 3rd, I took it for a spin at Goodbye Blue Monday in the Bushwick part of Brooklyn — using it to play a cadre of World Blanket tunes past, present and future — and I had an amazing time.  Thus “Baby Blanket” was born.

Baby Blanket shows will continue during these times when the band is not playing (and possibly beyond).  They promise to follow two rules: 1) always the baby instrument, and 2) a focus on World Blanket material.

I’ve already announced Baby Blanket shows #2 & #3…

Baby Blanket #2

The Local 269 in Lower East Side, Manhattan

Baby Blanket #3
